Experience of the day….we received a call on a Cabrio washer today that was not draining. After careful examination of the unit we found that it had a bad drain pump assembly. While in the process of replacing the drain pump we also noticed that the washer had an extremely foul odor coming from inside the tub area. After pulling the inside wash basket we found 4-5 articles of clothing lodged underneath the basket. his clothing had obviously been in there for weeks if not months.This causes the machine to always retain moisture in the tub as the articles of clothing are always wet since they are not actually in the basket itself and are spun dry with the rest of the clothing at the end of the spin cycle.These machines can be notorious for throwing clothing up and over the basket which end up between the basket and outer tub and will almost always find there way to underneath the basket at some point. Please try not to overload these units as this is the main cause of this issue
We received a call from a customer yesterday about a shattered smooth top glass on her Maytag range. The report was that she was cleaning it with a cream paste after using the range. Please wait to clean these type of units after they have cooled down ! It is highly possible for these glass tops to spiderweb and crack if being cleaned while the surface is still hot ! Remember these glass tops are very expensive ($250.00-$450.00) and sometimes this repair may not be worth doing as it can sometime exceed the value of the range.
We have seen quite a few out of balance issues with the Whirlpool Cabrio and Maytag Bravos style washers lately. These have mostly been due to suspension problems within the interior of the machine cabinet. The problems are undoubtedly due to to over loading and washing items that are too bulky for this type of washer. One of the main complaints we get these days about front load washers is that they always have an offensive odor. I personally have a whirlpool full size front loader that i use about 5-6 times a week. I have tried pretty much all the different cleansers on the market to rid my machine of this HORRID ODOR !! but to no avail……What i found works best is to mix a 50/50 bleach and water solution and pull back the tub boot away from the inside basket a little and then scrub underneath it with a soft bristle brush. Then take 3-4 cups of bleach and pour it directly into the tub and then set your machine to the hottest wash cycle available. Let that stinky washer run and at the end of the cycle you will be surprised with a clean fresh scent. After that i just always leave the door cracked open a little to let the machine air and dry out and these odors stay gone for a very long time. Hello to all… This is the second time this month we have seen a dryer catch fire due to an extreme amount of lint build up inside the dryer cabinet. Fortunately there were no injuries or damage to the home but there was severe damage to the wiring harness and the painted finish of the appliance. This is a costly repair that can be prevented.
